Hello everyone!  My name is Cindy Shatley and I teach second grade here at the Creek!   This will be my 10th year teaching and I love what I do.   I’ve taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades.   My favorite subject to teach is math.  I'm currently teaching 2nd grade, and it’s amazing!

I have been married to my best friend, Kevin, for 24 years.  We have two children:  Chance (23), and Alexa (20).  We are also grandparents to Cooper who is nine months old.   I’ve always heard that being a grandparent is fabulous, and it’s true- I cherish every moment!

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, making jams and jellies, and spending time with my family.   I also like sitting in my rocking chair on my front porch- enjoying the sounds of summer (sounds old-fashioned doesn’t it!!)

It’s amazing to witness what each child can accomplish and become in one short year.   I am so excited to meet my upcoming 2nd graders – we’re going to have a sensational year!

Hi! My name is Wanda Rutledge. I teach second grade at MCES. This will be my 12th year teaching and I love my job! The Creek is a great school and I love the staff and students. My husband Ben and I have been married for 22 years. We have two amazing daughters, Lakyn (20) and Raegan (16). Lakyn is a Junior at ASU and Raegan is a Senior at WWHS. I enjoy spending time with my family. We love traveling and all types of outdoor activities. We are huge sports fans! Spending time with them is simply the BEST! It's almost time for school to begin and I'm super excited to meet my new kiddos! See you soon!
Hello! My name is Laura Babb. I am a wife, a mother of 2 and a 4th grade teacher... Yes, you read that right, I am moving on up to 4th! I started teaching in 1996. Since then, I've taught every grade from 1st to 5th. I'm often asked which grade level is my favorite, and my answer is always the same- "Whatever grade I'm in at the time"! I truly love teaching, and I appreciate the time I get to spend with the kids. I also appreciate the time I get to spend with my family.

My husband and I have been married for 18 years. We love spending time together and with our children. There never seems to be a dull moment when we are together... It doesn't matter what we are doing, if we are together, you will most likely find us laughing and cutting up.

If you (or someone you know) have been in my class, you know that my kiddos quickly become my extended family. Just like with my real family, I want the time I spend with my school family to be filled with laughter and happy memories. As long as we work hard, and do our best, we will have a great time together!!! I am looking forward to another great year at "The Creek".

Jamie Miles

Hey, y'all!  My name is Jamie Miles, and I love Room 401 (fifth grade)!  I've taught for six years, in third and fifth grades. Coach Miles, who also works at The Creek, is my fabulous husband.  Our son, Caleb, surpassed my height when he was 13 years old (please don't mention it - it's a sensitive subject). ;0)

The furriest member of our family, Bandit, loves to be taken on rides and to eat.  He likes toilet water but hates baths.  He's also a much cheaper alternative than Terminix!

I find joy in the small things in life like watching hummingbirds interact, growing a garden from seed, and cooking for friends and family.  I love to teach (especially messy science) and support my students, both past and present!  So, I also find joy in the big things in life like watching my kids succeed in and out of the classroom - and loving the life that God leads me through!

Laurin Mayberry

Hello!  I'm Laurin Mayberry, and I have been teaching for ten years, eight of which have been at Millers Creek Elementary. My most recent experience has been in fifth grade, but I am thrilled to be returning to fourth grade this school year.   I absolutely love teaching science.  Although I will miss the fifth grade science curriculum, I am looking forward to teaching fourth grade science again.

My husband, Quinn and I have been married for three years.  I about have him fully trained to do the laundry, cooking, and cleaning.  I've been attempting to get back in shape this summer, as I tend to pack on the pounds during the school year by eating the majority of the candy intended to go to the students.

I'm very passionate about teaching and love learning from other educators.  I look forward to year of awesome collaboration and planning!  Can't wait to meet my kiddos and new teacher faces in August!

Sandy Kilby

Hi I'm Sandy Kilby and I will be starting my 12th year as a teacher assistant at Millers Creek and my 16th year in the school system.. The Creek truly is a special place. It is my home away from home and I call the staff part of my family. They have always been there for anything if you need it. I look forward to the new school year. Meeting new faces and getting to see the faces I've known for a long time. I love to hear Mrs. Kilby wherever I go. It puts a smile on my face. And to have a mom of one of your students say she heard them playing school and the child was playing Mrs. Kilby. Children truly are remarkable they seem to sense when you are having a bad day and will come up to you with a hug and I love you. On a personal note I have been married to my husband Randy for 26 years and we have three boys Austin age 25, Dylan age 22 and Nicholas age 9. One granddaughter Olivia 2 1/2 and soon to be two new daughter-in-laws Jamie and Josie. Can't wait to see all of you in August.

Brenda Davis

Hello, my name is Brenda Davis and I am a kindergarten teacher here at the "Creek". This is my 3rd year teaching at Millers Creek, and my 26th year of teaching! I have taught all grades in K-6 except for 2nd. Kindergarten is my very favorite grade to teach! I love this age and enjoy watching them learn and grow. I love how at this age, they are so eager to learn new things and are like sponges, absorbing information and new skills and concepts! It is so amazing to see their growth throughout the year. At the beginning of the school year, we get these little people, some of who can barely hold or grasp a pencil, and by the end of the year, they are reading and writing! Kindergarteners LOVE coming to school!! They are exciting about every new thing we teach them. I cannot think of a more rewarding job than teaching kindergarten! I am told on a daily basis how much they love me, and the hugs are never-ending!  I look forward to meeting all my new students and getting to know them each and every year. It is so fun learning and making memories together!
